Holiday Floral Arrangements:
HALLOWEEN:
Did you think flowers were useless when it comes to decorating your home for Halloween? If so, think again! There are several interesting DIY Halloween projects you can embark on, using flowers. One fun project is to dry out a bouquet of flowers. Don’t worry too much about that aspect; so long as the flowers look good and dead you’re headed in the right direction! For an added grotesque touch, cover the entire ensemble in faux-cobwebs, and throw in a few plastic spiders if you want that kitschy edge.
THANKSGIVING:
Thanksgiving Centerpiece:
After your jack-o-lanterns have been carved, why not work on creating a floral Thanksgiving centerpiece? Centerpieces should be coordinated with tablecloth settings, and as it is traditionally to have autumnal-themed tablecloths, try incorporating flowers that match well. There are several options for creating a fun, floral Thanksgiving centerpiece. Centerpieces like this often look great while surrounded by candles, or warm lighting (just remember to exercise caution in placement of candles).
DIY Cornucopia:
Cornucopias have long been used on Thanksgiving tables. One big misconception is that these displays should only use fruits and vegetables. While fruit and veggies do work well with them, a cornucopia of flowers has the potential to be quite lovely as well. Sunflowers tend to work particularly well in cornucopia arrangement, but roses, berries, and other red and orange flowers work beautifully too. Don’t forget to fill out the arrangement with a variety of twigs and branches.
Flowers in a Vase:
Sometimes the best elegance comes with simplicity. A small but bold arrangement of roses gathered and placed in a vase can be a classy touch. This tends to work best for Thanksgiving dinners that are smaller in number.
Place cards:
If you are really going all out this Thanksgiving, you may want to make place cards for your guests. Flowers can also be used in creating these; you can glue a bud on, draw a blossom, or perhaps sprinkle each place setting with petals that match the centerpiece.
